This is the one people rave about. Dont bother with the cheap throw away units. You get what you pay for! Solid brass construction with replaceable 2.5v halogen bulb and powered by two AAA batteries (included). This makes great gift item.

It has a very professional look and feel to it, unlike almost all other penlights. The light is incredibly bright and it is not LED or blue-tinted light, it's halogen 100% which is crucial because that's the wavelengths that show the true color of the tissue. The mechanism is decisive, it's either on or off, not in between. The material is high quality, the mechanics is masterfully engineered and the look is very professional.
Fast delivery. Great quality product. Couldn't be more pleased. Engraving is neat.
My Dad was the greatest Pediatrician ever! He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and was board certified in Trauma, Pediatrics and Internal medicine; he was also my best friend. He loved Welch Allyn products and his Penlight was given to me along with his field surgical kit with all instruments in great shape before he went to be with Christ in 2000. I made the mistake of storing his favorite Penlight with alkaline batteries and when I was going through his things a while ago, I found that it was corroded and a total loss. In honor of my Dad who served in both World War II and The Korean Conflict, I ordered a brand new Welch Allyn Penlight from Stethoscope.com and had his name laser engraved on this fine instrument. This is a top-flight company, professionally run and the service, engraving and expediate delivery were impeccable. Thank you Stethoscope.com for helping me piece back together his trauma field kit and helping me re-live fabulous memories of my Dad.
Super bright, and I love the same day engraving.
Pros: This pen light is perfect for pupil/body assesments, very bright and profesional looking, the engravement is a perfect touch. Can also be used as a flashlight when needed.
Pros: -Great ilumination for oropharyngeal examination (much much better than 'typical' penlights). Cons: -A bit costly, but well worth it.
